NCHS FBLA members decided to start a new service project this year called "Members Mentoring." FBLA members evaluated the needs of the school/community and decided there needed to be more opportunities for high school-age kids to mentor the elementary and middle school students. Since the district went to a 4 day week this opened up the opportunity for this to happen. So far FBLA has spent time mentoring elementary age kids in developing basketball skills and the importance of healthy eating. This week they read books to students and assisted support staff with making slime, flour art, building catapults, and paper airplanes, as well as teaching chess to middle school kids. Next week they plan to continue teaching chess and teach a lesson on the importance of financial literacy.
