Niobrara County Finished Strong at Virtual State FBLA

By Danni Larson

This year the State FBLA Conference was held online due to COVID-19. It was quite the experience for our chapter, but we were very thankful we were able to compete. Niobrara County had 17 members compete in 45 events.

To compete in testing you had to go online and you would have an hour to take that test. If you did a prejudged report the state removed the presentation portion. Presentation projects presented via a zoom call. It was very different but for the NCHS FBLA members there was a lot of success and a lot to celebrate.

Our FBLA Chapter competed in a lot of events this year. We had 19 members of our chapter compete at State this year. Abby Kottwitz- Junior, competed in American Enterprise Project, and Sports and Entertainment Management. Abby also ran for a State Office as the State Reporter. Bryce Goodwin- Sophomore, competed in Help Desk, Hospitality Management, and Impromptu Speaking. Bryn Bruch- Junior, competed in American Enterprise Project, Healthcare Administration, and Political Science. Chance Richardson- Junior, competed in Digital Video Production. Cooper Stewart- Freshman, competed in Introduction to Business Presentation, Introduction to Information Technology, Introduction to FBLA, and Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure. Courtney Rowley- Junior, competed in American Enterprise Project, Advertising, Sports and Entertainment Management. DeAnna West- Junior, competed in Business Calculations, Job Interview, and Local Chapter Annual Business Report. Danni Larson- Junior, competed in Entrepreneurship, Local Chapter Annual Business Report, and Organizational Leadership. Evelyn Desenfants- Freshman, competed in Introduction to Business Presentation, Introduction to FBLA, and Introduction to Information Technology. Larkin Williams- Freshman, competed in Introduction to Business Presentation, Introduction to FBLA, and Website Design. Lucy Ceaglske- Senior, competed in Business Communication, Business Law, and Job Interview. Riley Shaw- Junior, competed in Healthcare Administration, Organizational Leadership, Sports and Entertainment Management. Tanner Carpenter- Senior, competed in Community Service Project, Personal Finance, and Website Design. Tyle Basile- Senior, competed in Business Calculations, Cyber Security, and Economics. Walker Kupke- Sophomore, competed in Business Financial Plan, Community Service Project, Introduction to Business, and Introduction to Financial Math. Wyatt Stauffer- Senior, competed in Economics, Personal Finance, and Website Design. Jasper Caldera- Junior, competed in Business Financial Plan, Community Service Project, and Sales Presentation

Niobrara County’s FBLA Chapter did very well while competing at State. Abby Kottwitz won and is currently serving as the Wyoming FBLA State Reporter. We did so well that 13 of our 17 competing members made it to Nationals. To make it to Nationals you have to place in the top 4 of your event. In the American Enterprise Project the group of Abby Kottwitz, Bryn Bruch, and Courtney Rowley placed 2nd. Lucy Ceaglske placed 3rd in Business Communication and 1st in Business Law. For the Community Service Project Walker Kupke, Jasper Caldera and Tanner Carpenter compete and they placed 2nd. Tyler Basile placed 4th in Cyber Security and also placed 1st in Economics. Larkin Williams, Cooper Stewart, and Evelyn Desenfants compete in Introduction to Business Presentation and they placed 1st. That is pretty awesome for our freshmen. Walker Kupke placed 3rd in Introduction to Business and 2nd in Introduction to Financial Math. Cooper Stewart placed first in Introduction to Informational Technology. In Local Chapter Annual Business Report the group of Danni Larson and DeAnna West placed 4th. Jasper Caldera placed 3rd in Sales Presentation. There were a few members who placed in multiple events, so they will have to choose which project they want to compete in at Nationals. Members are only allowed to compete in one event unless it is a chapter project. Niobrara County’s 13 FBLA members will compete at Nationals in June, which will be held online due to Covid-19. Even though these members will not get the opportunity to attend Nationals in person we are still very proud of their hard work and determination during this crazy time. Niobrara County will be well represented at Nationals.
