IMPORTANT: Public Comment on Proposed Standards

The State Board of Education (SBE) passed a resolution in October 2022 to examine the state standards and reduce the content load in an effort to 1) meet their statutory responsibility to identify graduation standards, and 2) create greater flexibility for districts to provide meaningful learning experiences for students. This resolution responds to concerns raised by community members, educators, and policy makers across the state regarding the volume of the current content and performance standards. The SBE took an important step in addressing these concerns by gathering Wyoming educators and conducting an audit of the science and math standards. After several days of meaningful discussion and careful consideration given to the full depth and breadth of experiences Wyoming students should have during their K-12 experience, a recommendation has been put forward for the SBE’s consideration. Before moving forward with the proposed reduction, the SBE will collect input between now and May 11th.
